Since its inception in 1984, The Foundation has awarded more than $1 billion in grants to support sustainable community initiatives around the world.​ The Coca Cola Foundation supports education in and outside the classroom. In order to respond to the changing and growing challenges and opportunities facing society, in 2007 it extended its support to programs of education on sustainable water management, promotion of physical activity and proper nutrition, and recycling of local resources. To date, the Foundation’s strategy is in line with the sustainability policy implemented by the company and includes women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship.
